7) You mention that you enjoy designing jewelry that helps make a woman feel beautiful. What are some of your favorite reactions or responses from people who've worn your pieces?
I'm always astonished when women ask me to design jewelry for their wedding. It's such a special occasion, so it is a true honor. I work with the bride to capture the feeling she's looking for. Here's an example of a design I think was a great success.
I also love hearing from customers that they get compliments when they wear my designs. We all live such hectic, busy lives, to know that people get a moment to feel pretty with my jewelry, and that it can be a way for people to start a dialog with each other, is kinda cool. OK, it's not creating world peace, but it's a start!
8) You've written some spec scripts, including an X-Files episode about a photosynthesizing monster -- half man, half plant. For my money, that would have beaten the Home episode -- about the inbred mutants. Did you get any reader coverage on yours?
Why thanks! I had an agent in LA and he read my work, I've also had a few TV producers read my spec scripts and give coverage as well. And this is very very geeky, but I was an active participant in the early fan message boards for The X-Files and quite a few folks there would read my short stories and scripts. I've had my stories published in fan fiction 'zines and such. I love writing and that was such a fun, exciting time for me. I gained so much confidence and belief in following my dreams during that time. And then, somehow, this jewelry thang took over!
9) You were a Chemical Engineering major at UC Berkeley. How does your expertise in this field play a role in your designing life?
None at all! Except, maybe, for the discipline you learn as a student.
10) Where can people buy your jewelry here and elsewhere?
You can buy my jewelry at www.peggyli.com and at Sunhee Moon stores in San Francisco. I occassionally have pieces at Les Deux Copines in Burlingame as well. But the most up to date and largest collection is at my website. I'm constantly adding new pieces online.
11) And last -- totally free form final words:
If I can do it, anyone can. Know yourself, know your business, and be persistent. There is always a way!
