One half to 3/4 of a mile from East Beach, you'll pass the old Crissy Field landing strip (now a recreational field) and also aircraft hangars on the left, a visible nod to Crissy Field's aviation past.

On the right, you'll see the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary Visitor Center, with access to the beach.

See Presidio Map (pdf) for location of the center.

The Farallones Marine Sanctuary Visitor Center is in the old Crissy Field Coast Guard Station. The Visitor Center has information on the Farallones Sanctuary and on its ecological protection, as well as a touch tank for visiting children.

To learn more about Crissy Field and its aviation history, visit the National Park Service Presidio website, which has a links to more in-depth information.
