  • Distance: 1 to 2 miles (one way - depending on how far you choose to walk)
  • Terrain: Flat easy promenade for first mile, some uphill trail/path to reach the bridge
  • Considerations: Weather can change dramatically and quickly around the Golden Gate so the San Francisco truism of bringing layers is especially true when walking to the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Favorites: Beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the city from several vantage points - wildlife at Crissy Marsh

Start the walk at the East Beach parking area, just inside Marina Gate. (PDF Map of Presidio)

Follow the path at the west end of the parking lot, toward Crissy Field Marsh and Crissy Field Center (which is across Mason Street from the marsh).

Crissy Field is 100 acres of park, shoreline, and restored tidal marshes as well as renovated historic buildings. From wildlife in the marsh to hot coffee at Crissy Field Cafe or in the Warming Hut (in the shadow of Golden Gate Bridge) -- the walk from East Beach to the bridge offers a uniquely San Francisco and scenic experience.
