San Francisco Zoo Photos
The San Francisco Zoo has renovated many of its exhibits. The new zoo includes expanded areas for animals -- larger and more natural habitat for many of the zoo's residents.
The African Savanna, opened in 2004, is one such space. The San Francisco Zoo's Savanna features three acres of mixed-species terrain and includes some of the animals pictured in this photo gallery: giraffes, zebras, and crowned cranes (and more).
In writing about the Oakland Zoo I mentioned some of the issues surrounding captive animals. It's a discussion worth exploring on any level.
