The Albany Mudflats are part of the ecosystem restoration projects implemented by Eastshore State Park and East Bay Parks. Although people are not permitted in the marshes of the mudflats, binoculars and telephoto lenses can make for some decent birding on the perimeter of the mudflats.
See Bird Watching on San Francisco Bay for more places around the Bay to see shorebirds and waterfowl.
See the Eastshore State Park Website for more information on the park.
