Albany Beach and Albany mudflats both lie at the entrance to the Albany Bulb. From the beach, you can see a distant view of San Francisco. Golden Gate Fields horse racetrack sits behind the beach, along the 80 freeway.

Eastshore State Park has 8.5 miles of shoreline in the East Bay -- from the Bay Bridge to Richmond. The park is restoring wetlands habitat and other ecosystems in the area.

Farther along the path and into the area known as the Albany Bulb, a bit of exploration will render countless visual and photographic opportunities. The contrast of natural habitat against the construction refuse used to build the original peninsula is a photographer's dream.

Add to that the public art installations created over the years -- many originally by a Berkeley art collective known as SNIFF -- and the landscape becomes a futuristic tableau.

See the Eastshore State Park Website for more information on the park.
