Duck Pond at Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve

As duck ponds go, the pond at Palo Alto Baylands is large and well-maintained. It was originally built as a swimming pool, then made into a pond because of siltation issues.

The Duck Pond Trail loops around the pond for .7 mile, and you'll see a variety of ducks, geese, gulls and migrating birds that make their way into the popular pond.

The pond is obviously popular with children, and older kids can enjoy some of the longer walks in the nearby area.

There's parking at both the east and west end of the duck pond, as well as a small picnic area.
