San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival

The heart of the Dragon Boat Festival is, obviously, the dragon boat races, commanding the waters of Clipper Cove for the weekend. Dragon boat heats take place throughout the day, with festival performances taking the stage simultaneously.

The make-up of paddlers and competitors is diverse in every aspect, from age to size to nationality. This democratic constitution of the festival is part of what makes the event fun to watch.

Staged performances range from Chinese-trained acrobats to local Taiko drumming groups and Polynesian dance exhibits.
