San Francisco Birds: Shore and Sea
For nature lovers, the San Francisco Bay Area is a wildlife paradise. Not only do we have a wealth of native species throughout the year, we're in the midst of the Pacific Flyway -- the north/south migration route extending from Alaska to Patagonia.
When autumn arrives, the Bay Area's coasts and marshlands fill up with a variety of beautiful migrating ducks and shorebirds, all stopping in our rich estuarine habitat.
This photo gallery is a work-in-progress, expanding as images of various species are added.
