Heermann's Gulls
According to Cornell's All About Birds website the Heermann's Gull is the only North American gull that breeds south of the border and comes north for its non-breeding season.
Although gulls are often taken for granted or actually disliked, we have a beautiful array of gulls in the Bay Area -- an aesthetic best appreciated with a camera, where the color and species nuances become more pronounced.
