Eared Grebe
Eared Grebes and Horned Grebes can be difficult to tell apart. The Eared Grebe tends to have more mottled coloring extending down the side of the face, where the Horned Grebe's face shows a more defined line in coloration.
Eared Grebes dive for their food and are quick swimmers underwater but not as adept at walking on land.
See a photo of a Western Grebe for comparison.
