Hike to the Rotary Club Peace Grove

Follow Laurel Canyon Road up hill until you come to the last turn to the right (where Laurel Canyon Road meets Nimitz Way).

You can go all the way to Nimitz, turn left, and follow Nimitz Way toward Wildcat Peak.

Or, you can take the trail leading up the hill to the left, at the last turn before Nimitz, and climb up to the Rotary Club Peace Grove.

See the Official Tilden Park Trail Map to get your bearings as you approach this area.

About the Peace Grove in Tilden Park

The Peace Grove is like a hidden sanctuary on this Tilden hillside. For those who come upon it by surprise, it's an amazing monument and revelation, barely rising from the tall grasses of the grove where it sits.

The Peace Grove was created in 1955 to honor individuals who've contributed to the cause of world peace. Wander through the grove and look for the many markers overgrown with ground cover or hidden beneath trees. There are a few which don't seem to fit in with the theme of peace, but I suppose that's subjective based on your world view.
