After taking a right at the trail junction, you'll wend your way through a forested area. You'll cross another foot bridge and a bench, after which you'll begin a climb up toward Laurel Canyon Road.
At the top of the trail, you'll reach a wide, unpaved trail which is Laurel Canyon Road (pictured here). You have the option of turning on the road, or proceeding straight on the Sylvan Trail -- across the road.
For the purposes of this photo tour, turn right on Laurel Canyon Road (pictured here). But you can also take the Sylvan Trail toward Wildcat Peak, approaching the peak from a different side and with more of a switchback trail than the Laurel Canyon route.
