St. Patrick's Day Parade - San Francisco

The St. Patrick's Day Parade starts on Market Street, near Montgomery Street BART station and proceeds to Civic Center Plaza where it culminates in an all-day celebration.

It's green in the most shamrock way, with green carnations on police lapels and all form of leprechaun, including the beer-drinking kind. (The sweet leprechaun is an American invention, with the traditional leprechaun leaning more toward curmudgeon and trickster.)

Civic and political groups are also represented in the parade, as are dance academies and a variety of performers.

Get more information on the annual celebration at the official San Francisco St. Patrick's Day Parade website.
