San Francisco Fog

Turn left on Lincoln Avenue to return to the parking lot and parade ground area. Along the way, you'll pass La Terasse restaurant on the right as well as the Presidio fire station.

A note on San Francisco weather:

Fog can move into the Presidio and within hours, the park and the Marina district will be completely engulfed. Often, if you climb up Union Street toward North Beach, you'll walk above the clouds and be back in sunshine.

San Francisco and the Bay Area experience what's known as advection fog -- when warm air travels over a cool surface. Areas like the Presidio, located where the Golden Gate opens to the ocean, will sometimes get a chilling fog when other city neighborhoods, in micro-climates formed by hills , stay sunny and warm.
