Infantry Row at the Presidio San Francisco
Begin the walk by strolling up Montgomery Street with the rows of brick barracks on your right.
The barracks on Infantry Row on Montgomery Street were built in the 1890s and were among the first brick barracks in the country. The buildings all had the same floor plan and housed 110 soldiers per structure.
Across Montgomery Street from Infantry Row is the former Presidio parade ground, now a huge parking lot that serves the various tenants and visitors at the Main Post.
See an early photo and floor plan of the Infantry Row barracks at the National Park Service website.
