Bay Area Pet Fair

The Bay Area Pet Fair held its third annual event in 2008 -- at Marin Civic Center, with the backdrop of Frank Lloyd Wright and Lagoon Park.

The Pet Fair is, as its name suggests, a gathering devoted to pets. At the core of the event is the Adoptathon which brings together approximately 50 adoption agencies from around the Bay Area. The Adoptathon helps find new homes for rescued companion animals -- all species from dogs and cats, to guinea pigs and pet rats.

Throughout both days of the Bay Area Pet Fair, demonstrations delve into dog training techniques and K-9 dog exhibitions. The fair's main show event is the Other Dog Show -- which culminates in less conventional award prizes like "Most Muttalicious" and "Best Non-Dog." It's an alternative to traditional conformation dog shows, featuring dogs who've been rescued or adopted from humane societies.

For more information about the fair and the adoption agencies involved, see the Bay Area Pet Fair website.
