At the west end of Haight Street, you can cross Stanyan into Golden Gate Park. Just south of Haight street, at the edge of the park, is Kezar Stadium -- former home of the San Francisco 49ers (1946 to 1970) and the Oakland Raiders (1960).
Kezar Stadium
Kezar Stadium, designed by architect Willis Polk and opened in 1925.
The stadium was once home to both the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders (for a short stint). The 49ers played their last game there in 1970 -- against the Dallas Cowboys.
Kezar became, over the years, a concert venue, home to the San Francisco Dragons LaCrosse team, a soccer venue, and a field and stadium for local high schools.
In 2001, the athletic field was officially named Bob St. Clair field in honor of St. Clair of the San Francisco 49ers. You can see a commemorative plaque at the Kezar entrance pictured here.
See a Map of Golden Gate Park for nearby attractions in the park, adjacent to Kezar.
