San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park - at Hyde Street Pier

See: San Francisco Museum Map for location of the park.

San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park includes the ships at Hyde Street Pier, the San Francisco Maritime Museum, and the area around Aquatic Park. The Maritime Park is part of Fisherman's Wharf but it feels removed from the souvenir-oriented areas like Pier 39.

For anyone interested in maritime history or in San Francisco history, a stop at Hyde Street Pier is an engaging excursion . . . and a generally a scenic one, depending on Bay conditions.

The Eureka ferry boat pictured here was a steam ferry built in 1890 to shuttle passengers from San Francisco to Sausalito. Visitors can buy tickets to tour the Eureka.
