Memorial Day Commemoration at the Presidio
Monday - May 26, 2008
- 10:30a - Parade at the Presidio Main Parade Ground - Led by the 91st Division Pipes and Drum Band
- 11:00a - Program at San Francisco National Cemetery at the Presidio - Formal ceremony will feature the 40-member band of the US Army's 91st Division, a laying of wreaths, remarks, a reading of the Gettysburg address, and a 21 gun salute by the U.S. Armys 75th Division. The ceremony will be followed by tours led by National Park Service rangers and costumed volunteers highlighting the lives of noteworthy soldiers.
- 1:00p - Memorial Day Interfaith Service - With speaker Andrew Carroll (editor of books featuring letters home from American soldiers), Sally Porter Munro (San Francisco Opera Chorus), Michelle Latimer (jazz & classical trumpeter), and the Sausalito Presbyterian Choir

Memorial Day on the USS Pampanito

5:00p - Join submarine veterans in the Lost Boat ceremony, honoring comrades and submarines lost at sea.

87th Annual Memorial Day Commemoration at Mountain View Cemetery (Oakland)
Monday - May 26, 2008
10:00a - Held at the second fountain on the Main Avenue of the cemetery. Speaking will be Air Force Major Steve Rickenbacher (Reservist, recipient of the Bronze Star at Defense Meritorious Service in Iraq and Afghanistan).
There will be a traditional placing of the wreath, the 21-gun salute, and a dove release. Also at the ceremony: Piedmont Highlanders Drum and Pipe Trio, Presentation of Colors by Boy Scouts of Piedmont Troop 6, Salute to the Fallen, Amy Puccinelli (soloist), and David Hardiman Trio. After the ceremony, Docent Dennis Evanosky will lead a guided tour of the Civil War plot and other notable spots in the cemetery.

Memorial Day Ceremony in San Rafael
Monday - May 26, 2008
9:00a - Marin County Memorial Day observance conducted by Marin County United Veterans Council. Features music, remembrance program, flag displays, and wreath-laying ceremonies. Admission is free, no tickets or reservations required.

Mill Valley Memorial Day Parade
Monday - May 26, 2008
10:30a - This year's parade them is <i>Heroes</i>. The parade begins at Old Mill School and goes to Tamalpais High School.

Memorial Day at Ardenwood Farm (Fremont)
Monday - May 26, 2008
10:00a to 4:00p - Family day where children can roll up their sleeves and help with morning chores (11a to noon). Bring a picnic. There will be baked goods from the outdoor country kitchen (11a to 1p), old-time games (noon to 1p), guided stroll (2p to 3p). At 3p there will be a National Moment of Remembrance.
