Coastal Trail Views - Marin Headlands
The Wolf Ridge Trail eventually becomes the Coastal Trail . . . but not before offering hikers a ghost-town exploration of the deserted military installation of Hill 88.
Before we even get into that portion of Hill 88, you will reach a pinnacle on the hike that is jaw-dropping in terms of its panoramic views. To the west will be the full breadth of the Pacific. Straight ahead, as you come up over the ridge, you'll see the Golden Gate, Rodeo Beach and the Headlands beyond, as well as Fort Cronkhite below.
Hikes to the Rodeo Beach and Coastal Trail area can be started from a number of different points. My personal preference is to take new visitors on this particular route (or another route from the interior of Tennessee Valley) -- so that the hike culminates in this surprising visual payoff.
