The Jewel Lake loop is an easy hike, suitable for children, with some gentle ups and downs and just a few areas that might be more strenuous for younger kids.
The trail circumnavigates Jewel Lake but the lake is only visible from a few places during the first half of the stroll.
The trail around Jewel Lake looks very much like this photo throughout the walk. It winds through canopies of trees and is often quiet enough that deer will trundle across in full view, or emerge from the bushes with barely a glance toward hikers.
