Butte County Fires 2008

Updated August 1, 2008

If you can, consider making a donation to one of the relief organizations mentioned below. If your organization is involved with Northern California fire relief efforts, please e-mail me and I'll add it to the list.

Butte County Fire Updates

The California Office of Emergency Services (OES) has a Flickr photostream of Northern California fire photos.

Information provided by CAL FIRE indicates more than 59,000 acres have burned throughout Butte County. Fires are 100 percent contained.

Helping Through the Red Cross

Three Rivers Red Cross has been facilitating shelters and relief efforts.

In terms of extended air quality, the air has improved considerably since a reader posted several weeks ago, that the atmosphere in Chico was almost like fog as a result of the thick smoke. The air is clearing in most part of Northern California.

Fires & Animals - North Valley Animal Disaster Group (NVADG)

NVADG has been involved with the Butte County animal rescue operations, along with volunteers from two national rescue organizations, Noah's Wish and United Animal Nations. The North Valley Animal Disaster Group website has photo slide shows and information on how to donate.

See additional firefighting photo on page four.
