Amtrak Capitol Corridor
These images capture some of the diverse views along the Capitol Corridor ride from Sacramento to San Jose, California. Amtrak's 170-mile route starts in Auburn in the north, and wends its way southward through Sacramento, through Solano County marshes and wetlands, past icons of maritime history, urban centers, and takes passengers through convenient commuter transfer points.
Writer Jeffrey Proske captures the visceral essence of this journey in his essay Riding the Rails From the Capitol to the Bay. He recounts his Capitol Corridor trip from Sacramento to Berkeley's 4th Street neighborhood, and provides a few details on navigating transit connections.
