Cool Globes at Crissy Field - San Francisco
On display along the Golden Gate Promenade from August to October of 2008.
The Cool Globes exhibition is a traveling, outdoor art installation, featuring five-foot diameter globes embellished by artists using environmental themes. Specifically, Cool Globes are traveling the country to bring awareness to climate change issues, and to encourage individuals, businesses and governments to adopt simple solutions to fight global warming.
Each globe is a standard mold, similar to the Hearts in San Francisco or Cow Parade exhibits in their process, where artists use a singular model to create their own vision of the theme. As illustrated in this photo gallery, the various interpretations render a panorama of diverse globes and sights along the promenade.
After San Francisco, the Cool Globes exhibit travels to San Diego, Chicago and then to London in 2009.
