Point Isabel Dog Park
Point Isabel is hot spot for dogs, home to an expanse of off-leash area as well as a dog-oriented shop, dog wash and cafe known as Mudpuppy's Tub & Scrub AND Sit & Stay Cafe. It's a veritable dog party at Point Isabel. So if your dog loves the company of other dogs in their natural element, this is your place.
Point Isabel Regional Shoreline
Get Bay Area weather & tide information.
For those without puppies, the Point Isabel Regional Shoreline is a stretch in Eastshore State Park -- the whole of which spans 8.5 miles along the East Bay waterfront (from the Bay Bridge to Richmond). The section of shoreline at Point Isabel leads to the northernmost areas of the park.
The park provides miles of easy walking and biking trail along the waterfront, with stellar views to San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as good shorebird watching during the migration months of fall, winter and spring.
Because the area is habitat for a variety of native and migrating birds, be sure to observe all restriction signs, stay on trails and out of the marshes, and leash dogs where required.
See Winter Birding on San Francisco Bay for more information on bird-watching spots.
Getting to Point Isabel Dog Park and Mudpuppy's
Driving Highway 80 or 580 in Richmond (across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco), take Central Avenue west. After crossing the freeway, you'll come upon Rydin Road. You can turn right for one of the available parking areas (at the north end of Rydin Road). Or, you can continue on Central, past Costco, and then right on Isabel Street. Follow Isabel Street to the parking area in front of Mudpuppy's.
