Ingrid has been a Californian for 20 years, and a Bay Area resident for more than half of those years, splitting time between San Francisco and Berkeley/Oakland.
Ingrid travels extensively -- a habit born from her formative years in Geneva and Amsterdam. At home, she considers herself a perpetual explorer and tour guide, looking for the best and also the esoteric elements within San Francisco and around the Bay.
Experience:
Ingrid is a freelance writer with a background in public relations and administration. She has worked in a diverse set of industries, from food and beer importing, to media marketing and public broadcasting.
She was a columnist and feature writer for the magazine Natural Living Today, a publication focusing on green living. Her essays have appeared in print and online zines, from Comic Relief to Common Ties. As a tech writer, she's written copy for both commercial and non-profit clients.
Ingrid's photographs of the Bay Area, including recent coverage of the Cosco Busan oil spill, have appeared in local publications and on tourism websites.
Education:
Ingrid attended UC Berkeley. She has a deep interest in environmental issues and the ecology of the Bay Area, and is currently learning wildlife rehabilitation at a Bay Area wildlife hospital.
From Ingrid Taylar:
Rudyard Kipling once said, "San Francisco has only one drawback. 'Tis hard to leave."
We are fortunate if we don't have to leave the Bay Area. There's enough to do here to keep even the most avid traveler engaged. And our proximity to the coast and to true wilderness areas is a treasure not often found just steps from an urban enclave.
I've been in love with San Francisco since my earliest explorations of the city in the 1980s. With the entire Bay Area as part our collective home, the inspiration is endless. My appreciation has grown over time -- the more I've seen -- the more I cherish what we have.
I hope you enjoy the cultural exchange of this site, as it grows to embrace all of the eclectic elements that make up the San Francisco Bay Area. I welcome your questions, comments and perspectives . . . any day, anytime.
