Ride the F-Line streetcars and other Muni vehicles
for free today, which is Muni's 100th anniversary.

Complaining about the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is a favorite San Francisco pastime: It seems to take a lot (in fares, parking meter rates and parking tickets) and give us little in return except late buses and erratic service. But today is different: To mark its 100th anniversary, Muni is giving everyone free rides.
From 5 am on December 28, 2012, until 5 am the following day, rides on all Muni vehicles, including San Francisco's iconic cable cars, are free. Our article about Muni's centennial tells you about related history and art exhibits on now and why Muni broke ground when it started. So when you hop aboard today, be nice to the driver.
