Nothing says "It's holiday time!" like The Nutcracker. With Tchaikovsky's popular score, the magical ballet is a crowd-pleaser and a staple of most dance companies. And in the culturally rich Bay Area, we have at least six--yep, I counted--productions to choose from, and San Francisco Ballet's, Marin Ballet's, and Ballet San Jose's versions crack open this weekend. Our guide to The Nutcracker and other holiday shows has the details.
Other specials this weekend: Hanukkah begins, Berkeley gets snow, and Filipino lanterns light up Yerba Buena Gardens, which you can celebrate and enjoy for free.
