SFBay Food Talk - Jan 13, 2009

Tuesday January 13, 2009
The latest from local (and About.com) food bloggers -- saving you time, money and dining anguish:

  • Check Please Bay Area (one of my favorite food shows) posts that Barack Obama will be on the Chicago version of the show, picking his favorite Chicago area dining spot
  • Eater SF reports on progress in the Foggy Bridge Winery project, with its opening pushed toward the end of 2009 -- and on Scala's new menu
  • William Brand (What's On Tap) gears up for SF Beer Week with a rundown of tastes, events and openers
  • Michael Bauer waxes hopeful on better acoustic design in restaurants, and takes some flak from commenters who've burned out on the topic. (Personally, I'm always happy to know about lower-DB-inspired decor, given my advancing years and need to hear)
  • Food Gal clues readers into the proper non-alcoholic cider for a Lunar New Year celebration
  • Foodnut rates Yogurt spots, mostly Peninsula venues like Fraiche and Yogurtouille
  • Alcademics features a post on the Beer v. Wine battle coming at the Fifth Floor on January 20
  • John Mitzewich (About.com: American Cooking) presents his No-Knead Pizza Dough and a commenter weighs in with a No-Knead English Muffin recipe.
  • Colleen Graham (About.com: Cocktails) offers simple instructions for a French Martini, made with Chambord
For a list of openings you may have missed last year: San Francisco 2008 Openings.
