Project Censored - Stories for 2009

Wednesday November 19, 2008
Since 1976, Sonoma State University has produced one of my favorite resources in the realm of journalism: Project Censored. Project Censored is known for its annual Top Censored Stories compilation -- with the 2009 list now available via the link.

Project Censored highlights unsung journalists and underreported stories that should have been widely covered but weren't. The dichotomy between what's actually being covered on the front page, versus what deserves that prominent coverage is often troubling. At the same time, it's encouraging to know that hard-core, investigative journalism is, in fact, being practiced against the odds. Project Censored performs a critical and increasingly rare service, by bringing stories to light which might otherwise buried in nonsense.
