Mortified Live = Teen Angst as Performance

Thursday August 21, 2008
If you ever had nightmares of someone reading your teen diary in public, you'll appreciate these souls who get on stage to read from their angst-filled teenage memoirs. Mortified Live is a comic (and courageous) exploration of youthful artifacts -- journals, diaries, love letters, poems -- performed by the original authors, in a live show.

Writer-Producer David Nadelberg founded Mortified after coming upon a "creepy" love letter he himself wrote in the 10th grade. He and co-producer, Neil Katcher, turned the concept into a multi-city project that struck a chord with audiences. Mortified regularly plays to capacity crowds -- with a changing line-up of readers revealing their deepest, adolescent thoughts.

Read more about Mortified Live with comments from Scott Lifton, producer of the San Francisco show.

Mortified Live is at the Make-Out Room on August 23 and 25, and again on September 5 and 6. You can purchase tickets for $12 online, or $15 at the door. Shows are at 8:00pm.
