Join SF Giants at the Annual Golf Classic
In March, I wrote about the Play Ball Lunch -- an annual fundraiser for the Junior Giants, where San Francisco Giants players, alumni, broadcasters and fans mingle for a great cause. If hitting the links is more your style, consider playing a round in the upcoming Giants Community Fund Golf Classic fundraiser. It's a chance to tee off with the pros in a full day of golf, followed by a reception and dinner at the historic Olympic Club in San Francisco. This year -- the 18th year of the Golf Classic -- the player roster includes Giants Hall of Famer Willie McCovey, Giants players and alumni.
It's 18 holes for a most worthy cause -- the Junior Giants summer program. Because of the Junior Giants, more than 13,000 youths (ages 5 to 18) in rural communities and inner cities get baseball training and equipment they could not otherwise afford. The program offers invaluable training for kids, helping them build leadership skills, self-esteem, and cooperative values.
