It's no secret that I have an immense affinity for the nature and wildlife of the Bay Area. I spend some hours of my week volunteering at a local wildlife hospital. And when these fires break out, one of my frustrations with news coverage is the seeming dearth of information on how the wildfires affect the other species among us. It's particularly devastating when wildfires happen this early in the season when birds are nesting, and baby mammals are plenty.

So, to tilt the balance in fire coverage just a little, I've included a video below that contains a brief look at the damage and death caused to wild animals by massive wildfires.
