More Heat in the Bay Area

When I lived in Southern California, the constant summer heat was just a bear. So, I should feel lucky that our heat here comes in waves ... even if these bursts of temperature are coming a bit too close together on the time continuum. San Francisco's 85 degrees isn't too bad for some. East of the tunnel and elsewhere around the Bay, numbers will peak in the upper 90s.

Back in May, I posted information on staying cool -- and on keeping your pets safe in hot weather.

You'd think people would know not to leave their dogs in hot cars, but I still see it happen from time to time. So -- to quote a sign I recently saw in the desert:

Hot Car = Hot Oven. Don't do it.

Here are a few tips on how to recognize heat exhaustion in humans and four-legged people as we wait for the Bay effect next week:
