San Francisco Pride 2008

Wednesday June 4, 2008
Thirty-eight years have built the San Francisco Pride event into one of the largest in the world, and the largest in the nation. On June 28 and 29, 2008, Civic Center will host thousands upon thousands at the 2008 LGBT Pride Celebration -- which includes multiple stages and venues, hundreds of exhibitors, and the annual parade on Market Street.

On June 17, 2008, the San Francisco County Clerk's office will begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples -- in the aftermath of the landmark decision by the California Supreme Court.

San Francisco Pride happens on the heels of this monumental change in California. And in spite of challenges to the Supreme Court's decision (in the form of an initiative on the November ballot), we have much to celebrate in the realm of civil rights and equality under the law. It's all the more appropriate that this year's Pride them is "United by Pride, Bound for Equality."
