San Francisco Black Film Festival 2008

Sunday June 1, 2008
June 4 (Wednesday) is opening night of the San Francisco Black Film Festival. Catch films by emerging and established artists, all celebrating African American cinema and the African cultural Diaspora.

Through the featured films, the Festival aims to dispel negative stereotypes, and to create public dialog and understanding among diverse races, cultures and lifestyles. To that end, the Festival showcases films -- and also hosts special events like Black Sundance and Jazz and Soul Friday.

The June 4 Opening Night features a wine reception at 6p, a screening of the film Shoot the Messenger at 7p -- followed by a 9p after party at Rasselas on Fillmore.
