Tree Show IV at Giant Robot
To paraphrase film producer Robert Evans -- the woodpecker stays in the picture. (I couldn't bring myself to crop him out.)If you look past the bird, to the bark and to the branch -- that's what the Giant Robot exhibition this month is all about. It's inspired by trees . . . which in turn inspire an abundance of wildlife, even on city streets and in urban parks.
Tree Show IV is a fundraiser for Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF), an organization all about bringing tree life into San Francisco. A portion of all proceeds go to FUF's tree-planting and tree maintenance efforts.
Tree Show IV features the arbor-inspired work of painters, illustrators, and other creators from street art, indie comics, printmaking, design, and crafty art backgrounds. See the Giant Robot website for a full list of artists.
You can check out the works until June 18, 2008. Find Giant Robot at 618 Shrader Street, around the corner from Haight Street.
(If you're new to San Francisco, see the Haight location on the San Francisco Neighborhood Map.)
