Berkeley Light Brown Apple Moth Meeting
On Thursday, April 10, East Bay Pesticide Alert and Don't Spray California present a Who's Afraid of the Light Brown Apple Moth? meeting at the Ecology Center in Berkeley -- on the topic of the proposed aerial spraying of the San Francisco Bay Area.
You'll have a chance to talk about the moth and spraying issue with Miguel Altieri (UC Berkeley Professor of Agroecology and entomologist), Robert Lieber, RN (Mayor of Albany), John Davis, RN (environmental and peace activist), Rob Schultz (vineyard manager and farmer specializing in organics), and Ames Morison (Medlock Ames Winery, using biodynamic practices).
The Ecology Center in Berkeley is at 2530 San Pablo Ave -- near Dwight Way. (See a map of the Berkeley/UC Berkeley area for location -- west of the downtown and campus area.)
Jane Kay, environmental writer at the Chronicle posted another piece on the aerial spraying today -- discussing health issues in the aftermath of the Monterey spraying and the State's slow response to those reports.
It seems that the CDFA is still poised to spray in August, in spite of immense public outcry and with products and ingredients that have not been properly tested for aerial application over large populated areas.
