Photos of the Berkeley Kite Festival

Sunday July 29, 2007
The sky couldn't have been a richer blue for this weekend's photos at the Berkeley Kite Festival. Celebrating its 22nd year, the festival brought kite aficionados of ranging abilities -- from the Berkeley Kite Wranglers, who set up their giant kites and trademark "Octopile" -- to small children learning to fly their first, single-line diamond kite.

If you attended the festival, you may still be in traffic. That's just a slight exaggeration. The crowded passageway into the Marina is the one logistical drawback of the event. Once there, however, the kites and the natural beauty of the park, the marina and the wildlife seem a destination worthy of the travel.
