If you can’t tell a Honjozu from a Junmai from a Ginjo, it’s time to stop by the Takara Sake Museum or True Sake to embrace the world of the Japanese rice beverage. Takara in Berkeley has a sake tasting room and a free museum of sake history and artifacts. True Sake is the first sake-only boutique in the States.

The museum, adjacent to the Fourth Street commercial area, is open daily from noon to 6pm and is free of charge. True Sake in Hayes Valley is open Monday to Friday from noon to 7pm, and 11am to 6pm on Sundays.
